This week in Human Geography you are looking at how open borders can create positives impacts but also tensions within communities. At the moment we are witnessing strict controls on international migration due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the areas affected negatively by this is UK agriculture we depend on seasonal workers from Eastern Europe to fill labour gaps. Read more about the impacts here: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/04/eastern-europeans-flown-vital-jobs-uk-german-farms-200416184050312.html

One of the things you will be looking at this week in Human Geography is how Globalisation affects the environment and people's health. At the moment, COVID lockdowns around the world are simulating a slow down of global interconnections. Fewer flights, reduced production and movement of goods, fewer people travelling and migrating. It is interesting to see some of the impacts of this on our environment and health.
Here is a great article from the World Economic Forum that highlights the impact on Air Pollution - https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/04/coronavirus-lockdowns-air-pollution |
